Lake Union Conference
Curriculum Advisory Directives 2023
In the spring of 2023, the Lake Union Curriculum Advisory met to discuss the needs of the Lake Union Conference schools in the area of curriculum. The following directives are the outcome of the meeting and will become target goals until fulfillment or completion:
MATH DIRECTIVES

Build Teacher Math Capacity through trainings, resource sharing, PLC’s, and best practice research.

Build Student Math Capacity through intervention strategies and tools such as placement tests and early intervention strategies, creating a student resource area, and cultivating a positive math culture.
STANDARDS-BASED LEARNING DIRECTIVES

Provide access to necessary research-based tools, trainings, and materials to implement SBL practices in the classroom, tools to communicate to parents and school boards, and multigrade resources for teaching SBL in our schools.
RELEVANT CURRICULUM DIRECTIVES

Clarify and provide access to Alternative Textbook Request process for those seeking to use materials not on NAD recommended textbook list.
SOCIAL STUDIES DIRECTIVES
-
Work with high schools and colleges to provide a list of “fundamental concepts for success” as well as skills and masteries expected at those levels prior to advancement.
SERVICE/OUTREACH DIRECTIVES

Create a more positive culture surrounding outreach projects by providing a user-friendly data-base of outreach opportunities and best-practices in service-learning trainings.
